You can use Tinexyl PRO on a wide range of patients with nail pathologies - any patient with discoloured, thickened, brittle, dry nails. Tinexyl PRO can be used on patients aged 6 and over. It is safe to use during breastfeeding and in pregnancy. The only contraindication is where patients have a known allergy to any of the ingredients. As the product contains lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid, patients should avoid exposure of their toes to sunlight during periods when the product is being applied.  

No, it’s a conditioning product and is not antifungal, but in restoring and improving toenail structure and barrier function – through conditioning and hydration – it corrects nail plate damage and resolves the cosmetic issues and discomfort associated with onychomycosis.

Yes, it’s not an antifungal (see question above) but we’ve already had great feedback on it restoring nail structure and improving appearance and texture of nails where there have been long-term issues with stubborn and unresolved fungal infection.

Tinexyl PRO should be applied to clean, dry nails. It can be used in conjunction with oral antifungal medicine and also topical antifungal nail products, provided that the topical product is applied during the day and removed completely before the application of Tinexyl PRO in the evening. Tinexyl PRO is not compatible with/will not penetrate through lacquer formulations and so can not be used on nails with nail varnish (and is why any lacquer based topical antifungal products must be removed before it is applied). From a month of consistent, nightly application, there should be some noticeable improvement in the appearance and texture of the nail. The time it will take for significant change to the nail will depend on the individual, rate of nail growth and the cause of nail damage. The podiatrist/FHP will guide (at review after the first month of application) as to how long consistent, nightly application should continue for. In general, once a decent margin of healthy new nail growth from the matrix is obvious, application every night can cease and a maintenance regime of product application every second or third month (nightly application for a month) can start to ensure that nail health is maintained.

The instructions/product inserts are contained within each box for you and your patient and are available here. Apply at your patient’s first visit. Once you have applied to the nails, nail edges and surrounding skin, allow the product to dry for around 20 minutes before the patient puts on their socks and/or shoes. Your patient should then apply the product nightly for a further month and then have a review before a decision is taken on any further cycles of application before moving into a maintenance regimen with periodic cycles of monthly application.

Each bottle contains 5 mL and will last for up to 6 months (i.e. 6 x cycles of 28 day application) if treating 1-2 target nails, will last 4 months if treating 2-3 toenails and 2 months if treating every toenail.
