Tinexyl® PRO, marketed by NovaBiotics Consumer Health Ltd and developed by the biotechnology company NovaBiotics, is a first-of-its-kind conditioning product for toenails, only available through UK podiatrists and foot health practitioners. Its unique, proprietary water-based formulation contains conditioning and hydrating components including TXYL® polymers that correct toenail discolouration, brittleness, thickening and poor texture, improving nail plate structure and barrier function.
Toenail disorders affect a significant proportion of the general population. Toenail thickening, discolouration, brittleness, weakening, splitting and discomfort can be the result of a number of conditions and have an underappreciated impact on quality of life for those affected. The global market for nail remedies is estimated to be worth over $30 Bn by 2030. Tinexyl® PRO is uniquely positioned to be a highly disruptive product in this space as a world’s-first product to improve the look and feel of toenails through conditioning.
Gaynor Wooldridge, BSc (Hons), CFPodM, BMAS, consultant podiatrist and chair of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Podiatrists is amongst the podiatrists and foot health practitioners who have been treating patients with Tinexyl® PRO since the product’s launch in 2024. Gaynor recently assessed Tinexyl® PRO’s impact on a number of cosmetic aspects, and symptoms of, nail plate damage in 33 patients.
Gaynor states that, “The results suggest that this topical product effectively rehydrates and improves the condition of nails affected by various pathologies” and that, “Based on the findings, this product may be the substance of choice for topical nail treatment in the future”.
Significant improvement in the cosmetic appearance of toenails was noted in all patients. A decrease in toenailbrittleness, thickening and discomfort was specifically reported in 75% of patients who completed questionnaires at 18-24 weeks of once-daily (overnight) product use. The majority of patients also reported improved toenail hydration. 100% of patients reported that Tinexyl® PRO was easy to use following provision by the podiatrist and in the phases between clinic visits.
Deborah O'Neil, CEO of NovaBiotics Consumer Health commented, “Gaynor’s experience confirms the positive end-user feedback provided to us since the product’s launch in 2024. We are delighted with the impact that this product is having, uniquely improving cosmetic issues associated with a range of toenail pathologies. We thank Gaynor for her time and effort in collating this information and welcome her and the Institute of Podiatry’s continued input and support for Tinexyl® PRO.”
